Club Langley Football Club was formed in 2011 by Andy Birchenall. When the club was set up, it was formed of 2 junior football teams. After a successful first season, the second saw another 4 junior teams join. The club has continued to grow and has every year looked to add 3-4 junior teams.
At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, it was decided that the club should add a senior side. This senior side went into the Kent County Football League (Step 7), with Michael Costa being the club secretary and Andy Birchenall taking the responsibility of chairman.
The first season was a mixed bag, a good squad that didn’t really live up to it’s potential. A mid table finish was not what was expected but at times the team showed what they were capable of.
Our second season saw us again in the Kent County Division 3 West. We finished in 5th place and reached the London Senior Trophy Quarter Final. We also reached the West Kent Challenge Shield Semi Final, unfortunately losing out on penalties to Metrogas Reserves. At the end of the season the club were moved up to the Kent County Division 2 West.
Last season saw the team gain yet another promotion, finishing second in the league. The team now look forward to moving into the Kent County Division One West.
The club has continued to grow, and will now see over 20 junior football clubs, aged under 7 to under 13 to go along with the senior side. Additionally quite proudly, the club has seen 12 players move in 2015 and 2016 onto professional clubs with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Charlton and Crystal Palace being the beneficiaries.
With the 2016/17 campaign almost upon us, Langley will be looking for another promotion as well as some success in the cup.
